Just started filling up the House Paddock Dam last night. Wow! you should see all the Yabby holes appearing. The Dam was pretty low. The valve? that we turn on was a bit stuffed and wouldn't turn on, so Dave had to go and dig it out at nearly dark last night, so we could get some more water in the dam. Went down tonight, and lotsa Yabby holes. They are all heading for the new water, so Yabbies for Xmas Day I reckon. Have to set a few Opera House nets before Xmas Day that's for sure. I'm hanging out for a good feed. Cheers

they r illegal in vic, those sort of nets.

Well Mick, We have for Chrissie Lunch, Lobsters, Prawn cocktails(we cook our own Green Prawn Tails - bought from IGA of course!), hopefully some Yabs from the dam. Might just set up a big tarp for us all to sit under, and go for it next Monday. Few tinnies of course. Then off in the 14fter, 40hp motorboat, tinnie, and up the creek for a u beaut boating/fishing/yabbying day. Who know's? No plans made atall atall! Oh, we are also having heaps of cold meats and salads as well, just to top us up. LOL!

Miiiicccckkkkk Maaaaatttteeee!!!! Any time you are in SA, feel free to visit, we will take you roaring thru our little creeks flatout, and Dave knows the creeks round here no probs. At least you haven't got a lot of hair to blow off!!! LOL!

Chez, any intrest in selling/shipping small ones, 40-50mm ?

You mean Yabbies I presume Inny? We would not be allowed to do it, its illegal unless you are a pro. Must be some yabby farms over in NSW where you could get em from maybe?? I know there is one at Gol Gol over Mildura way. They probably ship em. Not sure bout that.

And Mick feel free any time. Just give us a bell if you are heading this way. Summer is best(hot), and plenty of boating happens. Cheers Cheryl

They are illegal because they kill other aquatic life. This includes freshwater turtles and platypus.

me too Samma, the fun way. I dont know anyone who owns a dam so i just pop into the odd farm and ask if ok to take a few out.......they always say yes when ya tell em that you'll drop a few in on the way out. Geeeeeeeez i love eating them (feel bad throwing em in the boiling pot but)

RE: Re: RE: Home Grown Yabbies! Yummy!

We got 30 out of the home paddock dam yesterday. Not really big, but plenty to get a taste and make 4  Yabby Cocktails, no probs. Whatever you can do with prawns, you can do with yabbies. Yabbies with vinegar and pepper, yabby cocktails, curried yabbies, battered yabbies, crumbed yabbies, garlic yabbies, and the list just goes on and on and on! LOL!!!
