A small enclosure measuring 450wx450dx300h

I read hatchling stay in them for the first 12 months or so
But is that 12 months from when you BUY the hatchling (say you bought a 6-8 month hatchling)
or when the hatchling is 12 months of age?

and once it outgrows that enclosure, should I move him/her into the final enclosure?
or just upgrade it to a bigger enclosure? (if so, what size?)

These are probably stupid questions, but I just wanna do my best to look after my first snake :) (and any others that may come after that:rolleyes:)

in this scenario i'd say 'first 12 months' is refering to the first 12 months of the pythons life, an enclosure that is 45 x 45 x 30 isn't going to last overly long for a coastal, because they are a large snake as an adult, they grow quickly as hatchies.
as a general guidline the tank should be no smaller than half the length of the snake (i prefer 2/3rd of its length, but thats just me)
Coastals are arboreal, so they like a bit of height and branches to climb on, just keep in mind that as an adult you would be looking at a tank around the 1200 high, if you dont have room for something that large then rethink the species of snake to something a little smaller,
when your hatchy is upsized, make sure it has plenty of hides.

As long as there are plenty of hides I don't think it should mind, right? I've heard there's nothing to prove it should freak them out too much... just make them feel at home.

as said coastal can live its first 12 months in its click clak depeding on the size after that quite alright to move to forever home just include plenty of hides so feels safe and secure if dont want to grow to fast dont feed as much but dont starve it for an adult coastal recommend something like 6 foot by 4 foot high give the coastal plenty of space
