howdy guys. im thinking of converting a cabinet into an enclosure for my central beardies.
the part of the cabinet im going to use for the enclosure is seperated into 2 parts. the bottom bit being 1ft tall by 3ft wide for the hide. and the top is 3.5ft tall by 3ft wide.
im just wondering is this too tall for beardies.
before you jump to a conclusion ive put a lot of thought into this and will make a fale rock wall. with shelves for them to bask on. and i know where i can get the perfect fake tree for them to climb up there, together with fake rock ramps too.
the good thing about this is that it would provide the perfect temp gradient and a cool hide.
just want to know if i can be done to suit my central beardies.
i mean will they utilise it or not??
quite of a hard question imo...
i thought maybe a trial and error approach as they can be semi-arboreal...
what are your opinions?????

ill get photos of the cabinet tonight...

thanks for the reply shane.
yeah i thought it might be alright just wanted a few opinions to get a general concencus on the matter.
anyone else??

i wouldnt make it that tall. is it possible to make it 3 levels?

personally i would make it 3 story.

like two 1ft story ones for the beardys and a 2ft high one for a spotted or something.

That's nowhere near too tall for a beardy! Haven't you seen them basking on logs and fence posts? They love to get up and look around. Give it a big fat log to climb up and it will sit for ages at the top, under the light.

I support the other responses that the enclosure wont be too tall provided you provide some tall branches for them to climb...try and make a good basking spot that is approx 25 cm or so from the heat source.

cheers guys.
just went to pails for scales and talked to roy himself. his answers are exactly what you guys have stated
as long as they can get up to the basking spot. it is perfectly ok. which i had already thought of. cheers and thanks for your replys and opinions.
greatly appreciated.
