would anyone know how to deter green tree frogs from making their home out of the bathrooms in the caravan park and quarters???

I remove them on a regular basis and have trained most of the residents to put them in a container and give them to me rather than kill them but it is a never ending fight.

Is there any way to deter them from living there?? I remove approx 10-20 from each week and put them in my pond at home where they live quite happily..

Before you ask apparently not everyone loves having them around, some peeps find having frog poo in their basin gross and dont like having a frog jump on them while showering....... and apparently having a frog attempting to escape from the toilet while sitting on it doing your business (understandably for the frog) is like the final insult!!

i have a friend in casino who puts salt arourd her house, she is scared of them for some reason, she puts the salt on the steps out the front of her house,i sweep it up when i visit her and give her a lecture, and she says it dosnt hurt them, but does repel them,,oh well ,i'd feel privelaged, but i hate the noise the ecapee makes under ur foot when u step into the shower at 4 o clock am

ssssnakeman i thought salt burnt their skin

AGAMIDAE ummm no thanks, as i have to work with these people their personal hygene is important to me :p

Why not build a pond/wet area in the park? might encourage them there. A sign or two highlighting these wonderful visitors might encourage a positive tourism attraction outlook, rather than disgust.
Bit of info for visitors about them, would be positive, tell em they're lucky to see them. :D

Sorry to say, i dont think theres any sure safe remedy to keep them at bay?, other than to educate your guests on the benefits of having the frogs, show them their not that bad, and a part of living in rurial NSW...your still unfortunatly going have those that freak out,....good on ya Zard for taking the time.

Woohoo Frog finding party at Zards!

I'd be tempted to put logs in the restrooms and make a pond in there, but that's silly.
I can understand the people being afraid of them jumping on them and the toilet thing. Most would see it as a holiday experience but I can see how some wouldn't. ew.

I hope you get an answer Zard.

frogs and geckos seem to love caravan park toilets.

My guess is they know the lights attract insects.

RE: Re: RE: How to deter GTFs

Got no idea how to deter them,up here they're everywhere and heaps of other frog species and yes they do make a mess, and some have the same phobia with frogs as they do with snakes and spiders for example but i love having them live under the same roof as me....I think you're already doing a good job already by removing and relocating as well as having the guests catch them for you instead of kill them....you already have a pond so there's instars suggestion covered.

I did an experiment a few years ago with a big GTF that lived in the loo....i would catch him,put him outside only to find another one in the loo a few days to a week later so i got a magic marker and put a mark on the GTF'S back to see if it was the same frog returning and to cut a long story short it was the same frog coming back each time

RE: Re: RE: How to deter GTFs

A pond will only encourage more frogs to the area I think.
GTF's will return to the same spot, even if you move them a few km apparently.
Screen the windows and block gaps under the doors, or live witrh it.
