Hi everyone,

I just want to know how everyone mixes/soaks their vermucilite for the eggs.
I have heard a couple of different ways of doing it but it doesn't seem to work when I try it. Does anyone have any proven methods?

Thanks in advance,
Andy

I just use a good set of kitchen scales, weigh out the vermiculite and then weigh out the exact same weight of water (which will take up much less space than the same weight of vermiculite). Then just mix it all together well with your hands.

You can also just measure the volume of the water 1ml = 1 gram. i just spread the water evenly and invert the container a few times to mix it around.

So you just put in a bowl or bucket and mix. Do you need to drain any water out of it?

You shouldnt need to, use a mix of a bit less than half water by weight and you shouldnt have a problem.

I dont use any weight method, i just do it by feel.
The best way is to use a spray bottle and spray the vermiculite then mix it thru by hand.
