I am only new to the snakes, but everytime I get on here and see photo's of everyones magnificant specimens I want them aswell.
I have a female Diamond that I have only had for 3 weeks (my 1st), last week moosenoose put me on to a lady near him who has Darwins. I now own a Darwin and will pick up soon. MD's, Pibara's, Coastals, Bredli's do you ever stop at just 1,2,3,4. I once had a fobia about em now I love em. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I was once told it was contagious but said "Bull***t" I have to appologise now as they were correct.

This is my girl having a stretch after a feed

lol..and welcome to the "herp-world" fellow newbie...i tell ya it trully is an addiction...btw i luv ur diamond gal, she is gorgeous...how old is she??
Hehe, ditto on the fear factor, but i must say, my phobias have pretty much always been with arachnids...yeah, those pesky lil things they call spiders, arrrgh, im sure ill learn to luv em one day ;-) Congrats on all ur new repitles too :)

Yeah, Im the same. Im pretty new to snake as well, I've had lizards before but now I'm hooked on snakes. Just can't get enough of them, I have a 2.5 month old children and a 1.5 month old tennant creek Stimi. Now I want a carpet but not sure which species. I guess before you now it, you have room full of snakes. Can't wait until that happens. :D

Angelrose, your making me jealous. I've been told I cant get anymore until we move to a bigger house. Damn!!! :(

nice pyth. cant see much bump, small feed? :)

I've been told by a few not to over feed diamonds due to the syndrome they can get. She's only a yearling, exactly what age I'm not sure.
The pic doesn't really do her justice, still trying to work out how to get the pic small enough without losing to much quality.

RE: Re: RE: I want I want

I'm guessing she is about 1yo. You could feed her fuzzy rats no worries. Just dont over feed her, by feeding her twice a week or something. Once a week - 10 days is cool.

RE: Re: RE: I want I want

I was talking to Russell Grant on the phone yesterday and i quote, Diamond Python Syndrome = uneducated, irresponsible ownership.... if you look after them, they wont die. unquote

i guess that would indeed include over feeding.

Sorry if that sounds a little harsh, but you are perfectly right to worry about over feeding them and i would use your own judgement.

I am with you, hate the hairy thing's!
do you ever stop at just 1,2,3,4. We were only going to get a couple of snake's( about 8 mths ago!) A pair of costals and a male mac. That was graet for a month or two! Now have about 9 snakes, 13 hatchies and about 10 lizzard's. So I guess no you can't just stop at 1,2,3,4!

Why can't most people be like this??? I was speaking to a guy on the weekend, who is so phobic about anything reptile he even flips out over those tiny skink eggs you find in the garden!! Why, why, why??? :?

Good on you anyway Deeman, that's a nice Diamond you got there too mate! :D

I've been feeding her mice at around 5 to 6 weeks old. Not quit that large that you could call full grown. I haven't got any rats bred just yet, they shouldn't be far away. Last feed she took a mouse with the head of it at it's sholders so there isn't much worry what she is capable of. Just paranoid I guess. I'll give her a go a full size one this week I think!

Thanks

Dee4, she looks about 2 year old to me. As their birthdates are around about this time of year. I would be feeding her something a little larger, maybe small rat 1 X every 2 weeks. You should ask the person you bought her off, what they have been feeding and how often.
