It is definately a Sydney Broad Headed Snake. Getting fairly rare these days due to overcollecting and bush rock theives.

Not like they used to be, Danny. You can still find them if you know where to look, but they used to fairly common.

They are one of very few species that could have their populations adversely affected by poachers.

they are restricted in their range but they are definitly not rare. go for a walk in their habitat at night time and its not hard to find a few in the one night and that includes places that are fairly disturbed.

Some people get the Broad headed mixed up with Diamonds as there simarlar in colour,BUT one could be deadly, while the other harmless...Not as common as years ago, great find..

I wouldnt think too many people would want one

Highly venomous [but pretty placid too]

When I first started with snakes in the 1970s I found one and thought it was a strange Diamond Python
Sat it on the bench seat beside me and drove up to Eric Warrels
Picked it up and walked into his house

Very quietly he told me to put it down gently and walk away..
