hi all im looking at getting a pair sent another state into qld and not sure what i need to do as im not the sharpest tool in the shed any help would be great :oops::oops:

When I bought pygmys from NSW last year this is what we had to do (the $$ is between you and the seller but this is what we did). What the seller has to do and any export permits they have to get will vary from state to state. QLD just uses the usual movement advice as if you had bought it from your next door neighbour!

SELLER NSW* had to get an export permit ($20 paid by me)
* had to do some other paperwork I don't know what it is just for them I think
BUYER QLD * Movement advice form WHITE posted to EPA
PINK posted to EPA after you sign the bottom part
GREEN is your copy for your records
YELLOW posted to seller in whatever state

Close except it really isn't necessary to post a copy of your movement advice to someone interstate, afterall Qld EPA has no duristriction over keepers in other states. Just send the MA number via email/PM is good enough.

Hmm. I am a stickler for paperwork. It probably doesn't hurt for their records (not that QLD has any power) but it shows the seller's records are correct and everything was finalised should they ever be inspected/audited.

Still makes no difference.NSW DECC are only concerned about their side of the paperwork/bookwork and since they have issued the export permit it's all good.

Tecnically the QLD movement permit is supposed to travel with the reptile/s

Thanks guy's im trying to get them from SA would that be same as NSW

Except when the animal is coming from another state then that's states paperwork accompanies the animal, that paperwork has the MA number on it.

Hmm. I didnt get any paperwork form the person who sold me my dragons from NSW... oops.

WHy do they make it so hard? THey should just take the best parts of all the systems and combine them!

I'm the same, I prefer to have both import and export permit copies for my records. I would even ask for the copy if they only just gave me a number. To me its a way to ensure that its a legal transaction and a peace of mind.

Dealing with NSW

Selling or buying from NSW is basically rubbish, you have to wait three weeks plus while an inept govt. dept runs around in circles trying to arrange an export / import permitt that takes 3 mins and the buyer/ seller gets cold feet....cheers solar 17 [Baden]

I am in the process of geting some sent from SA myself and my mate has been getting a few over the last couple months. The seller (SA end) needs to apply for a export permit. This I am led to believe can take anywhere from 1-7 working days. Then once approved he/she needs to book them onto AAE for transport to you. Not sure whats gotta be done after they arrive as I am still waiting for mine.
Hope this helps.

Yeh Baden,DECC thinks business is something skippy drops out of the tail end, they are like dealing with a brick wall, they can make things efficient but choose not.

Amusing that,i informed NSW DECC that i had a movement advice and they stated they dont know and dont care,i was surprised at how well the states worked together like a well oiled machine LOL

all decc need is the export permit they don't give a crap about qld movement advices, if i do import i make sure they have the copy which is supposed to travel in transport but besides that generally they don't need or want the peice of paper involved with our movement advices. In my experience buy locally if possible :)

thanks for all the help now ive got some idea what goe's on thank's again..

I've got a diamond coming up from NSW and its been just over 3 weeks now, waiting for the NSW paperwork to come back. Its a royal pain in the rear end, and someone in the department needs a kick in said rear end.

Ok so I just imported some lizards from S.A. Firstly the seller has to own a 'specialist' permit to be able to export. Then the seller has to apply for an export permit. Once this permit is granted the seller then can book the lizards onto a plane under freight through AAE (approx $60) Then the seller attatches a copy of the export permit to the box of lizards and places them on plane. You receive the lizards from AAE depot and keep the attatched export permit for your own records. Done deal. Then obviously you go enjoy your new babies............I know I am :)

I put those QLD MA's through the shredder so I have more packing material for the next snake I export :)

forgive my hijacking but its you experienced people i would like the opinions of.

long story short...My new snake spent 2 days in this box being shipped from nsw to vic.there are no warning stickers.."this way up".."fragile"..nothing.no air holes..response.[oh..cardoard isnt airtight]..why wasnt it labelled animal? [oh.people steal them]...sigh.having worked in a sorting room i have no doubt a box like this would of been tossed around...now as we allll know we are not allowed to ship in cardboard they are supposed to be solid and the animal in a container of some sort..yes??.. 1.cos it collapses..2.it can be peirced injuring the snake...he was not in ANY form of container..just a pillow sack and newspaper..i have spoken to the person involved and expressed my dissapointment..am i over reacting?..should i go to the dse?..we cant have people sending our babys like this imo...... if i am wrong..tell me please.:?
