i am getting my license ready as i am possibly getting a stimson python and have seen vids eg snake bytes tv and read that you should feed your snake in a seprate enclosure as it will become aggressive toward you if you feed inside its enclosure what do you guys think

ps it would be rally good if people with stiomson pythons wrote a reply but all replies are thanked

dont feed them outside their enclosure imo, because they can then believe that being taken out means they are being fed and could lead to being biten.

i feed my stimsons in their enclosure and my black heads

In my experience feeding your snake in a different enclosure doesn't make any difference whatsoever to their temperament. My port mac carpet is quite cage defensive so I tried this technique a while back and it didn't work at all.

Yeah, I'm with Harley on this one ... leave them in their enclosure with the exception being if you are housing more than one python in an enclosure!

too many schools of thought (and threads) on this topic to not get just more confused by the question. at the end of the day, do what you think is right thats not going to stress you or your snake out too much.

Never had a hint of problems feeding my snakes in or out of their cages .Out of my 7 3 of them come in at 10 kgs .From the biggest to the smallest they all get hand fed either in or out .

I feed all my snakes in there enclosures as when you have alot of snakes then it take all night to put them into a seperate feed box especially if u feed everything the same night.
I also hook all my snakes out no matter there temperament so its not really an issue.
I just think its less shocking to a snake to have a hook gently lift them out then a living hand suddenly grabbing them.

I have a spotted who I feed in the enclosure and two diamonds who are housed together so they get fed in separate tubs . . I haven't noticed a difference in any of them as far as cage defensiveness goes . . So I guess it's up to you and what you would prefer

Sometimes I get my snakes out to clean enclosures, sometimes I get them out to handle them, sometimes I get them out to go visit a vet and sometimes when I open the door it is to feed them. They don't know why I am opening the door until it is done. None are aggressive or expectant of a feed. I believe if you regularly remove the snake to a "feeding" container you will more than likely program an associated feeding response.

my stimmie gets fed in her enclosure and I have no problems with her at all. She comes to the front to get her food, she comes to the front to say hello. sometimes she gets lifted out sometimes she doesn't.

she is the most placcid one of all my snakes. I can grab her gently and pull her out even when she doesn't want to come and she still won't bite.

I have 2 B&G jungles and they live together - they also get fed together. Usually the girl first, so she is busy while the boy gets his meal. I always watch them during the whole procedure, as sometimes the girl just gulps her food down, way faster than the boy, and then decides to take an inocent stroll in his direction. That's the only moment I have to intervene to distract her for a bit, 'til the boy eats his rat. Other than that, I never had any issues feeding them in their enclosure.

I agree with Baxtor on this one.i am always pulling my snakes out.....sometimes it is to go slither around,a walk, grass time,or mum just wants a cuddle or to show them to someone or to clean out a poop or the whole tank....they never know.and sometimes when they go back into their homes dinner is waiting for them.and if i can i will feed maybe a day early or late sometimes just to mix it up on them, keep them away from a set routine.

The only reason feeding outside of an enclosure is better is when there is loose substrate.
Other than that it plays NO OTHER POSITIVE ASPECTS.
