Hey guys

Just wanting to get some advice from people on here that live around the Gold Coast area and further up north...

I have a large 3 door drink fridge that I have turned into an incubator, but being on the Gold Coast, the temps here are starting to rise and I'm having a hell of a time trying to keep the temps regular and/or below 32 degrees without constantly turning the thermo down and opening the door with fans blazing just to bring the temps down.

Is there anyone on here that has or had the same issue and what did you do to rectify it other then buying an air conditioner?

over-run of heat from the fan motors, 2 or 3 computor fans (12 volts) is whats needed (IMO).
........solar 17 (baden)

Thanks guys

I have an overhead fan inside the incubator that does blow cool circulating air, but it's not enough as the incubator is in a garage and during summer it's like an oven.

Looks like I have no choice but to go the portable air-con, the only thing is I have snakes in the garage also.

Wayne, we have that problem up here every year. The only reliable solution is an aircon. I can't see how you can cool off hot air with fans, they will only circulate the same hot air. If your set up is permanent, it may pay off to ad a small room to your house and put in a small aircon unit. I know that's not what you want to hear but ....

cheers
M

Yeah the fans above do blow cool air, but once it starts circulating through-out the incubator the air quickly turns warm. But I think your right... only option is the aircon!

Oh well, off to ebay we go.

Thanks Michael

Hey Wayne I just have a window rattler running off a cooling thermo I got off the herp shop. To fix the problem of the wattage being to large for thermo I have the air con running through a contactor operated by the cooling thermostat. Let me know if you need a hand to set one up.

Not sure if you have disconnected all the cooling capacities of your fridge. If not you could attach your fridge to a cooling thermostat so the fridge comes on when i get too hot to cool it down. I use this method with a large wine fridge but it would work with any working fridge.

The fridge side of it is a no go mummabear (thanks for the idea though).

Jason, so I would still need to obtain an air con to do what you have suggested? You might have to use a drawing board for this one mate as I'm little lost on what you are describing... what is a window rattler? lol PM me if you wish... thanks though mate, appreciate the help.

Will pm u buddy, window rattler is one of those air cons you see in the windows or in a hole in the wall they are a single unit that rattle your windows hence the name lol.
