Ok, so the situation is a 10 month old woma who ate 2 fuzzy rats on the 14th and is yet to poo anything out. Is this a problem? I've heard that urate and wee usually comes out within a couple of days, and then a brown one up to a couple of weeks after, but I'm yet to see any waste expelled.

She seems pretty happy at the moment, just cruising around on my desk, and I can't really feel any odd lumps in her, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.

Also, I keep hearing something to do with giving snakes a bath and checking for lumps. What exactly is this and how is it performed?

Thanks for the help!

My womas do that to me all the time, you wouldn't believe the amount of times I have almost taken them to the vet. My boy only defecates now when he is out and the girl is falling into the same habit. Mine often go 3-4 weeks without doing anything and then a huge one. My Darwin was constipated at one stage and you could physically feel the lumps so if you can't feel anything I wouldn't worry too much at this stage.

Hi,

My snake is pretty regular but once didn't poo for a fortnight. It was because she was going through a shed cycle. Is yours coming up to a shed? Has the lump her last meal formed completely gone away? I don't think it's anything to worry about just yet. I've read about snakes that haven't pooped for three weeks.

The bath trick is pretty simple. Just give the snake a lukewarm bath (same temp as the hot spot) and let her wriggle around in the bath. The combination of vigorous movement and possibly hydration (this works for lizards, I'm not sure about snakes), usually results in a cloaca movement. You can also pop her on the grass. If she's ready to poo, that often moves things along.

Stop fussing Stella, how long have you had him? Does he have to access plenty of water?
He'll be okay. Some snakes don't like it when people watch them go to the toilet.
Stop staring at him! : )

I wasn't staring!! I promise! But okay, I'll stop worrying. We've only had her a couple of weeks so I'm in new-mum mode.

Cool, thanks for the anecdotes and advice =)

Having siad that maybe you need to bump the food a tad.
Maybe go up a size. Give it something with a bit more bones and guts (sorry about
the wording) to poo out. Fuzzies don't have alot of substance so maybe she is burning up what your giving her
and has little to excrete?
