I have two clutches of bearded dragons about three weeks apart and was wondering is it safe to move them in to a four feet enclosure during the night and day after i feed them in the morning and night.
They are all eating small crickets and veggies.
They about 2 months old and 1 month old.
Just worried that the older ones might chew on little ones tails or killl them has anyone tried to do this.
running out of large tanks but don't want to sell them yet until they start to show more colour

Hi Bucket,

I keep my beardies together, but they are quite a bit older (1 - 2 years). With youngsters, a lot of people keep them together but there always seem to be a few in each clutch that damage the other little ones. It's a risk that most breeders take. I would be quite worried that the older ones would bully the smaller ones. When my eggs hatch (hopefully in about 3 weeks!!!) I will be keeping every hatchling in its own little container to avoid sibling bullying. A cheaper way to look after them than using reptile tanks is to buy plastic storage tanks - I picked up 2 x 80L containers from Kmart the other day for this reason. Best of luck with it :)

Rahni, I'm not so sure it's advisable to 'generalise' breeders like this - there are many, myself included, who WILL NOT keep youngsters together, even the same clutches, past a certain point (age). I currently have eight hatchlings who will be picked up (individually) by their new owners on the 20th Jan, at the age of 5 weeks. They will all go to separate homes, and live individual lives. Bearded Dragons are SOLITARY animals, they do not 'get along' with cage-mates, even siblings.

Bucket, my advice to you, to retain everyone's fingers, toes and tail-tips, separate your clutches - perhaps take Rahni's advice and find yourself a nice large 'tub' you can sling a UV and heat light over, and go from there.

All the best with your babies!

Carolyn
