hey yall, just to start with im new to this site and i think you guys are great thanx for your help :). Anyway, i have recently bought a beautiful coastal carpet python hatchy and im just tryin to break him in a bit.. When i first handle him he is very snappy but after about 5 mins he settles down (doesnt strike at me) but he trys to slither away from me. Should i put him back in his enclosure at this point is he stressed or does this just mean he is more comfortable with me? Thanx :) sara

he just knows your not a threat. you will find he is fast and wants to move. at first because he has no idea what is happening he will be a little defensive. get him and yourself into a routine. use a snake hook and he will learn that he is going to be handled and he will not be so startled.
