Ive recently found myself wanting to know more about breeding pythons, and as a result ive searched past threads on this site to learn whatever i can. There is a common point that seems to surface with some regularity, and that is a book by the name of "Keeping and Breeding Aussie Pythons" written by Mike Swan.Is that THE bible and a good place to start, or is there another book i could chase up to further my knowledge?Any suggestions of good books relevent to the subject would be appreciated guys, thanks Troy

You're spot on. It's edited by Mike Swan but there are a whole bunch of experienced breeders who helped write it - it's the one to have.

While it is a great book and has some extremely useful information. There is other information available. The southern cross reptiles articles are a great place to start as they explain how the reproductive systems work in more detail. I have also found that most of the breeders I have bought snakes from don't mind getting the odd email with a question or two. To quote Doc Rocks article "there is no right way to breed pythons, just a lot of wrong ways". Good luck with your research.

Thanks guys, breeding is a year or 2 away for me yet but that gives me plenty of time to do my research and learn as much as i can before hand and now i know im heading in the right direction.

Thanks Ewan, ive read his articles many times and no doubt ill read them many more times in the future. Its nice to see such a well respected breeder happy to help out the new starters to the hobby with all the valuable knowledge he has gained over the years.

Except for the bit about GTPs. I should be amended to "First smuggle your adult GTPs into Australia through South Africa".
Still a great and long needed publication.
