ive never owned a reptile im 14 and am buying a beardie what type should i get

What state are you in ?

In the eastern states the choices are pygmi bearded dragons ( can be kept as mixed groups ( 1 male , rest female ) or all female groups - will get to them "talking" with each other ), easterns , or centrals.
Easterns and centrals are best housed separately in tanks about 1.2m L x 0.6m D x at least 0.45m T ( governed by size of basking globe ( wattage , length ) and furnishings you want ).

A full grown adult central bearded dragon can be as long as 25 to 26" and 700 to 800g body weight. Most are a bit smaller ( maybe 20 to 22" long )

If you are getting a hatchling, you need to have the money to buy LOTS of live insects ie crickets, woodies, blacksoldier fly lavae or 1" long silkworms enough to give AT LEAST meals of live insects per day.

You'll literally go through a Piscus or Biosupplies tub of small crickets or woodies in a couple of days with one hatchling. Much more expensive buying the insects piecemeal from a local pet shop.
You'll be feeding live insects daily while the dragon is a hatching , then a juvenile up til about 18 months old and at least every other day as an adult.

Count on spending maybe $7 per tub of crickets / woodies and using maybe 4 tubs per week per hatchling , $10 per 50g tub of large BSFL ( will last maybe 2 weeks for a hungry hatchling ). Silkworms will be up to $1 each of bought as worms , buy these as eggs and hatch your own but allow at least a month to reach useful feeder size .
Better off ordering your live insects online for delivery by mail-order or courier to the home ( is cheaper overall in bulk , ie enough to keep you going for up to month )

Keep an eye on GUMTREE , people often have silkworm eggs, silkworms ( small to medium , even large ) , unhatched cocoons , and mulberry leafs ( by the shopping bag ) for sale there and it's lots cheaper than buying commercially farmed silkworms.


My advise is set up the dragon's tank first ( good quality Arcadia or ZooMed or ExoTerra UV sources ( MVB or T5 10% or 12% or 14% UVB tube in a good reflector hood )) and bone up on the care sheet for the species you want BEFORE buying one ( or two ) .
