l have found my Tassie BTL's DON'T like heat although they have spent all their lives in QLD, l use cat litter trays upside down for hides so now what l do is put another one on top of it (right way up) and then put a frozen 3 litre milk bottle in it and throw a newspaper over the frozen bottle to insulate it (against the heat) and it keeps the hide in the mid to low 20's all day...then back into the freezer over night ... ready for the next time. ~B~

Good idea B.....to add to your post....you can make your frozen bottles last longer by adding newspaper and salt to the mix....shred up newspaper and stuff the bottle reasonably firm with it, add around a table spoon or two of salt per litre of warm water and poor into the newspaper filled bottle.....tip : only half fill bottle with paper then add some water and stuff the rest of the paper in before topping up with the rest of the water....
As you know Baden, I am a mad keen fisho, I use this method to keep my esky cool for any fish I keep.....works a treat....I've even put my room temp drinking water bottles in between the frozen bottles and my water ends up with ice in it....

Interesting topic. Good stuff.

Now I would like to insert an emoticon that says, "This thread is meaningless without pictures." :)

cheers,
Dave.
