Hey guys i have been thinking and what i have decided is to use this before giving any advice to anyone

" Any advice given in this thread/post is considered friendly advice and not the advice of a professional
unless stated otherwise, your only course of action should be to seek the advice of a professional such
as a vet. Following the advice offered in this thread/post is at your own risk and any outcome be it positive
or otherwise as a result of you following the advice on this thread/post is your own responsibility and not
the responsibility of the person/s that gave the advice. "

because i posted something before and wondered if there was anything in the site legals that said something
similar to cover the individuals making the post but as expected all i could find was legal t&c's that covered
the site and it's workers. So feasibly it could be possible to try to sue someone if they followed your advice
and they're animal died or at least thats what started going through my head, if not good i hope someone could
explain to me why i am wrong :).

Im not saying anyone would try to sue or that my little warning is ironclad or would even stand up in a court of law
but posting it makes me feel better :)

And if APS does have something similar that covers the users that i have missed then good but if not i think
i will keep using this.

If you want to steal it be my guest. Btw i am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice and as i said probably
wouldn't even hold up in court but to me it's at least worth a shot :)

good thinking!!

i stopped suggesting vets after i got suspended for it, lol,...so if there is a possibility of getting sued for offering advice i will learn to keep my trap shut! :p

Your thinking about this way too much, relax. If someone is asking on a forum for reptile medical advise so they don't have to pay a vet. I think they would know that the information is just a persons opinion as to deal with a situation. I would be 100% positive that in no way would you be held accountable for information given.

true well if thats the case i guess personal advice might go south a bit. And if i get in trouble for using it than whatever im only trying to help. Because most of the advice on here is top notch and helped me alot and id hate to see that stop because of legalities.

abnrmal91 yeah well i just got back from a trip to canada and the states and the warnings they have to put on everything because people sue them at the drop of a hat is ridiculous !

And who's to say that someone that follow's your advice and their animal dies might not feel your responsible and want revenge?
I am over thinking it but sometimes that pay's off.

haha and i was just reminded of the couple in america that bought a Winnebago and on the drive home left the drivers seat and went into the back to make a coffee then crashed obviously but managed to sue Winnebago because their manual didn't state that cruise control didn't actually steer for you lol

Also considering that it is a opinion that someone recieved for free I think that would salon mean that you can't be accountable. Not only that it is the person choice to us the advise or not, so really it their problem if it turns to ****.

Its a sad sad world when suing someone is seen as the answer for everything

seriously how would they find out who u actually are? yeah they could get my IP from the site which would actualy be a privacy act issue(unless they have a warrant). Then they would have to go through the same stuff with ISP to get your details. Any legal team in their right mind would realise getting a warrant to pursue advice freely given as someones opinion on the interwebs, as a complete waste of time. Couldnt see a warrant given for "advice"

Instead of offering advice, we should only offer an "observation".
Onus null.

it should really come down to if you have a herp u should know what ur doing before aquiring it in the first place. before i started i had read countless books and web pages to know what in was getting into. some things will help some people and others wont but it does not mean it didnt work for the person giving the advice. to ask for advice is one thing but to use the advice in your own free will cant be taken into a court room due to the fact that you didnt make the person do it but gave a suggestion.
