Hello again guys, I'm sorry to keep asking questions but I have a problem with two of my hatchling spotteds.
Out of 19 eggs, two didn't open their own shells, and after 2 days still inside, this morning I decided to pip them myself and noticed they were not moving... Did I wait too long??? Whilst pipping them I also noticed there were no longer any nice red veins inside. I am hoping they still might be alive but I'm not sure what to do.
Should I remove them completely from the egg (to get oxygen or something???) or just hope they do it themselves?
Thanks

If they are still alive they will move if you stick your finger inside the egg and touch them, if they are still alive gently pulling them partially out of the egg wont hurt but there is no real need to do so. Sounds like they are dead though, don't worry it happens sometimes. It has happened to me more than once.

Thanks waruikazi, it's just a shame because they look so well developed to just die for no reason. Oh well...

17/19 is really good. =)

I had eggs hatch the other day and thought one was dead in the egg but on closer inspection he was still alive. He was in the smallest egg and very lethargic, but finally came half out of the egg himself. We noticed he had somehow tangled his cord around himself and it was very tight around his midsection - there was no way we could untangle it so we made the decision to cut it even though he hadn't absorbed the yolk yet. Very unhappy about that as he is a runt as it is and the yolk would of done him good.

I didn't think he would make it through the night, laying on his side etc but this morning he is still breathing and is looking much better - will be nice if he pulls through!

Make sure you don't wait for his first shed to feed it if you are keen to keep it alive (if it's a snake). The yolk provides the energy they need to have their first slough, it will likely need a force feed.

Wow, good luck with that Vixen, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who has trouble! I hope things continue on the up for your little guy.
I'll wait 'til this afternoon I think, before I try helping these two out... I really hope they're not dead.

I couldn't help myself, I opened the eggs fully and unfortunately they were both dead. They still hadn't used up all of their yolk so I guess they just gave up...

Not all humans survive when they are born, snakes and animals are no different.
It is just nature..these things just happen for no particular reason.

sorry mate :( my girl beardie gave me a surprise about 2mths back when i came home to find an egg on the floor of her house! i incubated and freaked because i hadnt seen her and my male mate and had not known she was gravid, however after that egg she had let them down and i could see all the bulges, with some help from a hottie and some snuggles she pooped out one squishy nonviable egg and then passed another of the same, then nothing for almost 2 days and she started looking crap so i took her to the vet and we had to give her a csection, poor girl, at 18mths after passing 3 she still had 23 eggs inside her and was blocked! i kept the removed eggs and incubated and none survived even though one looked really goo with veins and stuff, just deflated overnight :( its sad but at least i still have her! had i left it she would have died, even had to have her spayed during the csection as she already had 2 folicle clutches forming :( super crap!!
