Fantastic footage!! Lions are my favorite animals on the planet, so massively powerful. I remember watching an episode of Big Cat Diary, a group of Hyenas turned up to a zebra that some lionesses had killed, the hyenas had it all over the Lionesses until the 2 pride males showed up, 3 seconds and 2 swipes later it was all over, 2 hyena were dead and others injured, incredible.

It is my lifes dream to head to Africa to see wild Lions and Cheetah, i hope some day i can get there.

National Geographic produced a video back in1992 titled: “Eternal Enemies: Lions and Hyenas”. Quite amazing – it shows the conflict between these animals, which is not simply motivated by a desire for food. The lions do not always win. Well worth a watch if you can find it.

It's a numbers game.

With lionesses and hyenas I believe it is either 3 or 4 hyenas to 1....For adult Male lions...Hyenas usually just retreat even in very large numbers.

The Jouberts have made some incredible Doco's, mainly on Lions, and were the first to film and prove, that the lion also counts adult elephants as prey...............

I have that DVD if you would like to borrow it and make a 'backup'. pm me. I bought it after seeing it on foxtel.> is some of the best footage ever filmed in that dvd. the Jouberts also have another awesome doco called 'eye of the leapord'. I have been meaning to get hold of it to.

Yeah when its an enormous pride( I think the Suvati pride is 25+ Lions) and at night only( elephants have poor nightvision) and Large Bull elephants are still completely off limits even with those odds.

An Adult Bull elephant is the king of the beasts...It is completely out of the league of ANY other animal.
