Hi all,

As some of you may know, I recently shifted up to Cairns for university. The moderators approved this thread in December – thanks mods! – but I was waiting for the working year to get started. Then I had a three-week intensive maths bridging course, which only just left me enough time to breathe.

Now that I can breathe freely without calculus and cubic functions weighing on my chest, it's time to try the APS network. I'm wondering if anyone here is looking for an employee in Cairns or knows of someone who is. Since it's the 21[SUP]st[/SUP] century, I should also say I'd be more than happy to work remotely over the internet – and some of my skills are well suited to this.

My experience lies in proofreading (eight years), office administration (ad hoc work here and there over my working life that adds up to about year) and in retail as a bookshop assistant (my first job after I left school). I have a university degree and a graduate certificate, and I'm starting my second degree on Monday.

Please don't let any of that put you off – I'm happy to try anything within my capabilities. All I need is a flexible job that I can juggle with my studies.

If you're interested, please PM with details of the job. Thanks for reading.

Kind regards,
Renenet

I advise against moving up here at this time of year.... sooooo hot

Not sure of any work going at the moment but if i hear of something will let you know :)

Hi Bedella,

Thanks.

After being here for nearly two and a half months, I'm just about used to the heat - except that it's been even warmer than usual over the past couple of weeks. A few days ago my snake bit me for only the third time in the year I've had her. My theory is that she was hungry because the heat is speeding up her digestion. I gave her an extra large meal on Saturday.

Oh, and where's the wet season? It's threatened to begin a couple of times but all the threats have been empty. :D

Yeah! its been super dry this year :-s
not sure whats going on there... maybe saving up for a cat 5 next year....
I only have a beardie so cant say about your hungry snake but that sounds like it could be the case . this heat will prob last for another month and then start cooling down a little bit (fingers crossed)

So where abouts did you move up from?
oh its Bec by the way :D

Hi Bec,

I came up from Melbourne. So from one extreme to the other. :D
