Taken in Emerald in Central QLD

We were very lucky - we had a few storms pass through the area earlier in the day/night and luckily the
clouds cleared to that we could see this spectacle....

Great blood moon! I watched one of these from a cave up in the Arnhem Land escarpment a few years ago. Very special. Had to wonder what the people who painted the entire roof of the cave many moons ago would have thought of such an event.

Me too, on both counts. Sounds like it was cloudy up most of the East Coast. I sat up and waited, hoping against hope for the clouds to clear, but it only got worse - by the time I gave up there was a little bit of thunder and lightning.

It was a decent sight, in breaks in cloud cover, in Western Sydney.

i managed to get some video and pics of it,being a avid astronomer i was more busy telling people to come out look at it.

Pretty sure there was a major one circa 2000... The whole thing actually GLOWED a blood red. Something to do with mars I think. Looked way better than last night.

I didnt know anything about it untill i looked at the sky wondering why it got so dark i happend to be at Warwick last night and only had a bit of fog to see through , we could see the lightning flashes coming from Brisbane . I got a few pics but there not the best because i didnt have the tripod to hold the camera still on night mode .

My daughter and her partner visited today and he was annoyed something had gone wrong with his camera because the moon was pink! I explained a blood moon and he is one happy bloke now!

He had some nice shots tooo!
