Just got back from the Mary River. Thank you to Gab and Craig for your hospitality and letting me be involved with the release of the hatchies and the capture and release of the other turts.
Folks, I urge you to get involved with the AFTCRA work and help save this wonderful ecosystem. Gab and Craig are doing all that they can to help save these unique turtles, but desperately need ongoing support if they are to be successful. By becoming a member of AFTCRA you can help our native herps in a real way. Some pictures of what we may lose if the Traveston Dam becomes a reality........

Awesome stuff olivehydra. Must have been an awesome experience. Such a great cause being done by Craig and Gabrielle.

Hi olivehydra, fantastic shots!

May I ask how those cuts were caused in the shell?? Are they sample cuts or something?? *sorry, I've got no experience in turtlery hehe*

We had to notch all turtles found as part of the survey. Different notch codes for differing species. Foot tags were also applied to any turt over 150mm CL.

Nice Pics Dorian and once again, thanks for your help!

Yesterday I saw one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in the Mary River! Wish you were here to see it. It was an albino Lungfish. Wish I had my underwater camera with me.

Hi All,

Thanks for the kind words!

We do the best we can with what we have.....with a little more support we could do so much more!;)

Thanks for plugging the website Donk.....the trouble is, it's under construction at the moment and is not functional. If anyone is interested in joining us and volunteering, all are welcome, but you have to be a member to be covered by our public liability insurance! It is well worth the trip though......just ask olivehydra!

If anyone is interested, just write a quick email to [email protected] and I'll send an application form and any information you require.

Kind regards,

Gab

P.S. Just remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!
