I jnow they dont need it, but if I were to put a UV light in my Carpet pythons cage what is the safe UV level?

really it wouldn't matter as no UV globe/tube emitts any where near as much UV as what the sun does. So whatever globe/tube you choose to use will be fine.

But if the uv level is too high cant they get snow blindness?

To be honest I don't know too much about snow blindness but if sufficient hides and places out of direct uv exposure are provided I don't see how they could.

Yeah ive got a few hides in there but ive also got a branch hanging from the roof about 30cm away from where im going to put the UV. Its an 18 wat tube is this too high?

Hey sorry it took so long to reply... I think it is, it says 5% UVB and high levels of UVA...Does that help?

Globes tend to be a little closer to the reptile then 93 Million miles.

the maximum you would want from an artificial bulb would be around 300 uW/cm2

what you should be more worried about is UVC levels from cheaper bulbs and compacts..
