Did any one see the news report on the house-sized meteorite that hit somewhere on the South Coast of New South Wales? (16th June) Sounds like a job for Mulder & Scully   It went missing! How's that? I have heard nothing more on it!! That's because it wasn't a meteor, it was a UFO (do,do,do,do ,do,do,do,do) Anyone heard anything else?

The rock itself was probly much smaller, but appeared bigger due to flame and glare as it burnt
on its way down. Then it says it exploded, so peices would be scattered and buried deep.
Not likely to find much of it. Witness reports of things in the sky are always open to interpretation anyway unless there are multiple witnesses. folk get excited and descriptions are
not always accurate, and often things seem, bigger, brighter faster etc than they were. often different witnesses report vastly different experience of the same event. Im sure if the rock was "house sized" it would have flattened/cratored a huge area and would have been seen well before it entered that atmosphere. Tabloid hype imo. :D

Unless, it landed quickly to grab a few Diamonds and a couple of Eastern Water Dragons!  There'd be no trace then either - I like my exciting theory the best! :D

How do you tell if something flying through the air at X km per second is house sized?

Is this a trick question Fuscus? You're either going to break out a real bad joke or give us a scientific formula like: 'n'- vision multiplied by 'w'- speed = 'n f'n w' no way of working out how big it was! :D

No i think Fucus is thying to say that people are stupid and often get confused with details as instar pointed out.

If this is true I hope they had their export paperwork in order or Jeff will have 'em!

Hehehe :D

I feel hurt now :(
Actually my point was something has just wizzed over you at a great rate of knots. It could have been 200 meters away or 2000 and could have tiny and close or huge and far away. ANs it would have been burning, just to make things easier.

Well actually there was something on tv news a couple of weeks ago.
A meteorite the size of a small rock smashing through the roof of a house and landed on the lounge suite. Did quite a bit of damage to the house, but nobody was hurt.
I thought it was in WA, but maybe it was down the south coast, can't remember anymore.

Apologies Fuscus  You should know I'm not serious about my comment! I'm always finding the funny side of things. :D

Ahh, at least it happened somewhere and I didn?t just dream it.
