They said if anyone found a brown snake in their back yard they would kill it..

Give it the old shovel treatment...

This made me so angry..

i tried to find their email to send them an angry email...

i heard this to, it was just some moron ringing in to say we should start a shark cull and using the snake/ shovel "argument" as if to prove his point
what a freaking loser..i just laughed
i agree with you gilleni, its not good publicity for our poor snakes

there do seem to be a lot of herpers listening to mmm, for their lick the fish segment people keep calling up saying that pet snakes and lizards that have passed away and are waiting taxidermy are kept in their freezer...

as if its not bad enough that they kiled a croc the other day..

people think just because something is scary, they can kill it..

it is very sad. But it seems to me that even at the slow rate of education we are doing, we will eventually change people's minds. My husband was taught growing up the way of the shovel, now he loves our snakes and wouldn't kill one in the wild, the only hunting he does is for photos.

My other friends are amazed by my snakes and a lot of them are talking about getting one themselves. Slowly but surely.

I heard it too. Made me laugh at how stupid some people can be.

I think that peoples opions are changing though. It is very comon to hear people talk about puting spiders outside, etc. People are getting the message that all native animals even (infact especially) 4m sharks, crocs, snakes and spiders have there place in the eco system.

I think that this generation of kids are getting plenty of education in school - so this irrational fear will prob. die out eventually.

Shame their lines were engaged for so long. The bloke who made the comment about killing snakes etc needs a shovel smacked on his own head. What a spastic.

yer i was listening to it, personally i think it is sad that these poeple are being killed but hay they know the risks that they are taking and if they chose to do it and get killed why should the animal be killed for what is natural for it to do.

personally i am sick of people thinking that all bloody snakes are evil and should be killed!!!!! when people first here that i keep snakes they tell me that i should kill it, before it kills me. when i hurd the guy going on about killing all the snakes he would see i thought that was stupid, people that dont understand why these animals do these things just want to cull them all.

servival of the fitest, they know the dangers.....

sorry if i appear stupid in what i am saying it just really fires me up when people think killing them is a good thing to do. :evil:

Then they complain when they get bitten trying to kill them with a shovel, only to say that all snakes are aggressive and this is support to the arguement.

I'd bite them too if I going to be attacked by a giant with a shovel.
