Im so excited !!!! I bought my gorgeous python early March this year and he has refused to eat since! Ive had to reptile vets, altered the temps, got him a vitamin B shot, nothing seemed to work. He shed about 4 days ago. Then just now I noticed he was in the "ambush" position. I quickly thawed out an adult mouse and he grabbed it straight away. I am SO relieved !!!

Im only a beginner in this hobby and was worried sick about him ! I wish I drank cause Id have a huge glass of champagne right about now !!!!

Great :)

I know how you feel. I've had snakes that have taken many months to get feeding. I think the longest I've seen is 12 months. All my other snakes were feeding and were kept under identical conditions and the snake was not losing any condition. If you do start to drink, have one for me ;)

I am waiting for pythoninfinite to come home from the symposium to give my python a vitamin B shot. My girl hasn't eaten in 19 months. I have changed her enclosure, got her into a warmer one. She is showing interest in food but not taking it so next was to try the vitamin B to see if that would help get her going again.

Glad to hear your python has started to eat. It is such a worry when they go that long without food and for no obvious reasons for it.

Ive had some adults go of there food for 6-8months,even thou they had access to heat, some will eat during the cooler months if they have access to heat, some will not eat no matter what you try...One of the coastals has only started to eat since Jan-Feb...Great to hear ur snake has finally started to eat...

is it common for jungles and diamonds to go off eating im thinking of getting one or the other and it seems like it would stress me out my stimmy eats like a champion dont know if i would cope if she stopped eating

Most of us have had non feeding snakes and so know how it feels when they begin eating again it is very usual for snakes not to eat through the colder months

yes, very common with the colder months. Nothing to worry, stress or panic about. My spotted goes off his food from april till october. I offer and he refuses. He just took is first mouse 3 days ago and will hopefully start feeding regularly again. He is a rescue snake and has had a reoccuring R.I, so, not a well fella, but he is still a champ. Just have to be patient and NOT STRESS out.

Between you and me, I always have a panic with him, but he had me doing a little break dance around the room..and down the hall..and into the kitchen.. when he finally took it...well...and..a little air punching Lleyton Hewitt style too...yusss..success...shhhhh :)

see mine just stays in her hide and when i put it in its feeder box she eats but she never comes out and sit on a rock ledge or a branch or anything i never know if she is hungry i just feed her once a week to once a fortnight

He's definately got his appetite back now - he gobbled up another adult mouse last night! Woo hoo !!!!

congrats iv never had a snake refuse food and hope i never do ut must be a huge weught off ya shoulders to have it finally eating again :D

yes, its a HUGE weight off my shoulders, there was absolutely nothing else I couldve done to tempt him to eat and it was driving me insane!!!
