soooooo just went to check on my coastal who is in a temporary tub and noticed the lid ajar and no snake in sight.....i always see these threads n now its me. So iv wacked up the aircon, have the house littered in trails of flour have looked everywhere in the room it was in to no avail. im just about to put a mouse back in its tub on the warm side hoping she comes looking. shes about a metre long and ate on sunday so she might be hungry i dont know. dont know if i should look high/low being a coastal or just try get up every few hours tonight to check for trails in my flour. any other suggestions?

Keep your reptile room locked so if they escape they are just in a bigger enclosure :D

thats a good point but due to lack of space and quarantine they are spread throughout the house

That's no good hope you find it and if u need to secure the tub more put bull clips on it

Most often you'll find them in the same room they were kept in so have another look there. If no luck, turn all your lights off then check every room every 30 mins, and don't forget to look up high. Good luck.

If you have any drawers in the room, pull them out carefully and look in the back of them, and under.

thats where i found her the other time she got out but now the enclosures in the office which is connected to lounge/kitchen/entire bloody house :S

I'm pretty sure she will come out of hiding for some heat and food.

so iv come to the very definate conclusion shes not in the office anymore the next thing i was thinking was the garage which will make it nearly impossible to find her. i put an air con unit in there maybe an hour and a half ago, how long might you expect a snake to wait before moving to a warmer area?

This happened to me a few weeks ago, I was devo'd...

Got him back the next night by closing up the house, turning off all lights... leaving for 45 minutes.... came back with torch only and did sweep of the house...

he was other end of the house on the second top louver o_O

Good luck! hope he comes back!

my mums coastal got out a few years back and we found her in the kitchen on the window sil

So I spoke to a relocater this morning who thought the air con was a bad idea as shed just go to sleep but I have now gone and bought a couple of friendly little mice and a new cage who have been kind enough to volunteer to get smelly and help bring her out of hiding... The cage gaps are quite thin and I doubt she can get in. The pet shop also told me that spray the mice with lice spray which wouldn't be good for the snake do you reckon this was a bluff

anything sprayed or ingested that is un natural should not be eaten by your snakey

Thanks everyone I have been up a few times each night lately to no avail. We are having cyclonic weather here atm, so hopefully she's tucked up somewhere inside and didn't venture out.
