Guys, one of my 3 baby whitelipped tree frogs which i purchased exactly 1 week ago has died for an unknown reason, Himidity was good, temps were good as i had them inside with a small heat lamp.

There was a dead cricket in the water this morning which I saw, could this possibly kill it? He had a blue mark on his back, could have this just been a natural colour change while he was changing colours to either a green or a brown? or could the blue be a disease such as a fungis or a wound or something? IT could not possibly be a burn mark as the Light has a mesh cover over it.

Heres some pics, i still have the frog, and will for a few hours after this to look over it more. Pics of the belly, pics of the top. and a close up of the blue mark.

Can i please get some help???? My other frog is getting the same colour on its skin.... I have know realised that a few days ago the one that died had a sunken eye a little bit, i though it just needed a spray and didnt think twice, now this one has it. With the same coloured skin and a lump below its eye.

jinin try frogs.org.au you will prob get better help from frog experts

Jinin, contact the Cairns frog hospital, they are more than happy to help out with problems such as this.
Pm me if you need any of their details if you cant find them.

Good luck Gex

Sorry for your loss mate I had one of my turtles die last night :( its such a sad thing when you loose pet

at a guess i would say the light cage gets 20oC, i can hold my hand on hit for as long as i want, i have never even seen a frog on the light cage and i check on them all the time.

I rang the vet to make a booking they said come in before 30mins as they were closing...anyway i got there at like 20mins and they were closed 8( sucks but yeah. anyway ill ring cairns frog hospital now, thanks Mike83 im sad, i just don't want any of the others to die, i have separated the infected live frog from the others. Thanks guys, my guess its some sort of Fungis, but why a lump??

The lump is causing the eye to open up and sag.. The guy who i bought them off didnt have any substrate, im using peat moss.... and I have for my Red Eyes and Dainties and never had a problem... the new hospital tank has no substrate so hopefully that is the key. Ill post back with the answer i get from Cairns Frog hospital. Thanks Geckoman.

Also the dead frog has turned red.... after 2 hours from death.

I hope you don't loose any more mate.

Forgot to mention, I rang Cairns Frog Hosp. and i emailed the necessary pictures.
If anyone would like the pics, PM me your email and i can send them.

Sorry about your loss dude, dont forgot to treat as if they are infected with a flesh eating virus and use all the necessary quarantine procedures.

Good luck Gex

Sorry to drag this thread back up, but what did Cairns frog hospital say?

do some reading on ranavirus, it is in australia and also spreads to fish and reptiles,...so treat them as highly infectious to all your cold blooded animals.

not saying its definately that, but just incase be very careful.
