Seconds before this beautiful king parrot was feeding on grevillea flowers not aware the juvenile carpet python was lurking in the guttering adjacent. We heard the desperate last shrieks and were too late to do anything but record the incident. A curious sub plot was the butcher bird that started harassing the python no doubt hoping it would drop the parrot giving it an opportunistic banquet, it stayed and watched proceedings until it was sure the parrot was being consumed then left.
The carpet however after 2 hours with a lot of rest breaks gave up what was more than it could handle and dropped the parrot, by then the butcher bird had got bored and left. Sad but that's nature, we buried the parrot in our rose garden.
