I just got this 7 foot albino python out of the rescue shelter along with 2 other ball's.

This albino python has a severe case of scale rot, very bad. Ive been reading up on humidity, cage cleanleness and tri antibiotic ointments and plan to try to nurse this snake back to health if possible. I dont know if it is possible as probably 40 percent or more of his scales are gone or sluffing off on the bottom. Her sides and top still look good

I will call a vet to see if there is anything additional they can offer me.

What would be the best surface for this snake to lay on with this condition?

Will the bottom scales, if I can stop this bacterial infection, ever grow back?

What other actions can I take to better the odds in her favor?

This really pees me off when someone neglects an animal in this way, I had to take these snakes because no one else wanted them and if I didnt, they would have died.

Is there any hope for this one?

Any and all comments, suggestions, advice, tricks, whatever are needed asap. This is an advanced case of rot and I can tell she is feeling miserable.

What can I do to make her more comfortable?

I have worked with many different hot snakes and species of constrictors but this is the first time I have come across such a severe case of rot, dumb fool, I feel so sorry for her.

Thank You Very Much for any and all help.

Best bet would be a trip to the vets for some antibiotics or something.

In the meantime I would try keeping the enclosure as dry as possible with very low humidity to try and keep the moisture levels down. All the scales should grow back after some time. Keep it on some newspaper, avoid substrate that may agitate the snake, it would be very sensitive at the moment. Even though I said to keep the enclosure as dry as possible, maybe even use some betadine and wipe over the infected scales to help try and clear them up.

yeah as said earlier keep the humidity down, try keeping on those medical large pads the use for burn victiims as the will be heaps ceaner than newspaper, you can get them from the chemist (drug store) and it should heal over time goodluck
