First of all- my name was previously "xshadowx", but I asked to get it changed and Slateman kindly agreed- Thankyou!

Anyway- I got a new camera yesterday, and went for a bit of a drive tonight to test it a bit :) Unfortunately the start of a migraine called the trip short, though.

Its a fuji finepix S1600 :) There are some things I really do not like about it (manually popping up the flash, seems to focus slowly at night, only 2cm super macro, and the lens cap.. lol) but it takes some nice shots, even though I haven't got used to it yet!

Keelback; it was sitting in the middle of the road, and had blood coming out of its nostrils... It also kept stretching its jaw occasionally, so I'm wondering whether it had just been hit by another car? here was quite a lot of traffic around at the time, but I would have thought it would be dead/show more signs than this if it were hit...

And this photo was supposed to be of the keelback.. but the only thing slightly in focus was the mozzie...

And here are the last few pics I took on my old S5700; I had the downstairs light on for a few hrs. as I was doing the washing and kept forgetting to turn it off in between loads. The last time I went down (2am) there were two green tree frogs sitting on the shelf near the light for the bugs that were attracted to the light. The darker one nicked off really quickly, but the other one hung around, so I started catching moths for it, and put them in front of the frog. Was great to watch it eat :D

In this photo the frog was grabbing one of the moths I offered it.. a rather strange pose and 'expression'

I have some pictures of a green frog, just sitting outside my door like that.I have a canon ixus190sx.The darker the area being photograghed, the longer it takes for auto focus ,Mine does all this automatic stuff, i still havent figured it out,i just leave it on digital Macro, Auto and shot.Check out my pics if you have time.Cheers

Toes Normal?

Are the toes on that frog, diseased, or otherwise,'not right'.They ends look very suss.Is that normal for frogs in your area/Cheers(oh, not putting crap on your frog, or camera, just wondering?)

Haha nice GTF, looks well fed! I have quite a few that seem to live on/around my back steps and in the garden bed- it stays relatively moist, and plenty of bugs for them! I always try to go out the back door slowly to avoid startling them, if possible.

With the slower focusing in the dark- I know its to be expected, but am somewhat disappointed that the new one is worse in this regard than my old camera (which, I stopped using because the LCD screen went- if it hadn't, I'd still quite happily be using it!)

And I shall definitely check out your pictures :)

Edit: Yeah, I've seen a few frogs around this area with toes like that (I'll assume you mean the dark tips?) but I think its just the pigmentation. The other frog that was near this one was that darker green/brown all over (quite a drab looking individual!)

Gee, name change, are you reborn just like Gandalf the Grey returned as Gandalf the White? Do you have any other mythical powers?

I wish! Though, the grey bit isn't quite as appealing, but I could handle it if I had some special powers

Gorgeous pics...and as for the signs of being hit by a car, i was driving and saw a brown snake and the car in front of me went over the top of it (didnt hit it, positioned its tyres so that it didnt actually squash the snake) and as the car went over it, the snake struck the bottom of the car...I stopped and the snake kept opening its mouth and appeared to be bleeding from the nose too (only appeared to be as I didn't want to get too close being a ven and all)

Ah ok, that may have been what happened, it makes a bit more sense. I didn't want to euthanise it on the offchance that it would recover- Our aussie natives seem pretty darned tough, so hopefully he/she will pull through.

And thanks :) I shall be going up Castle hill this arvo to hopefully get some nice sunset pictures- with the cyclone getting closer, should hopefully get some nice pinkish tinges!

Great photos Kitah - just confirms what you wrote the other day - you don't need a $2000 camera when you have knowledge ;)
Well done!

some photos from this afternoon. The sunset wasn't particularly great, but I'll go up again tomorrow. I want the pinkish sky! Rather frustrated at the moment :)

Note; the panoramic shots aren't great, I've never used panorama before so am experimenting :)
