Just picked up my newest addition - a Diamond Python hatchling. He handles really well. The only thing that I'm concerned with is he is only 2 weeks old and hasn't fed yet. I tried him with a pinkie earlier and had no luck.
If anyone is interested the guy is charging $250. The add is on RDU.

Give it time Buck. 2 weeks is very young, but i prefer to buy animals that are already feeding myself. maybe wait till it has a shed and then try. use the tricks in the discussion forum - "hints and Tips" and i'm sure that you will have it going in no time. When i first got my pair of diamond hatchies it took them approx 2 months to eat and i tried all the tricks in the book, and now they are the best feeders around.

Here's some pics.....

aww, thats cute as. As mr K said, after the first shed he should b right to try and feed then.

Awww it is soo cute, please post more pics after her first shed, also, dont worry about even offering food untill at least a day after the first shed, you'll just be wasting your time love. Congratulations, you can be proud of that one.

Just wondering when the first shed should happen. Some of the hatchies had already shed when I got mine and to look at them all together it looked as though mine had already shed. The guy said one of them took a pinkie mouse the night before I saw them but he had no idea which one it was(typical).

That's probably why he only paid $250, pretty cheap for a diamond.

i noticed that yo said it was a good handler, you might not want to handle it for a week, so it can settle in its new cage(i know its hard, i didnt last the whole week with my first). the faster the snake get settled, the fast it will eat

Well I put a pinkie in with him last night. I tried to entice him with it at first to no avail so just decided to leave it in overnight. Woke up this morning and checked and the pinkie was still sitting there in the exact same place that I left it.
I then jumped on here and read the post where another guy was having problems with his diamond hatchie so I had a read. Someone in the thread mentioned "braining" the pinkie so I thought I'd give that a go. I made sure the pinkie was still ok which it was so I brained it and left it in there. Just checked again(4hrs later) and well the pinkie is gone!!!!! Woohooo!! Just to make sure I thought I would look at his gut to see if there was any sign of a recent feed and as hard as it was to see while he was in his hide box there was definately a bulge in his stomach.

Sorry if this seems pretty long winded but I have to tell you I'm pretty stoked.
Just one more peice of proof that APS is in my opinion a must for anyone starting out in this hobby. It never ceases to be a wealth of knowledge. Keep up the good work everyone.

One quick after thought..... Does this mean that he should now feed without to much drama? I know there are always exceptions to the rule but just after a general consensus.

Buck, the Diamond in the pic has allready had its 1st shed. Looks very nice. As for $250, thats exactly what I am charging for my high yellows this season if anyones interested.

Congrats on your new hatchling, he looks awesome. Im happy that he has eaten and im sure you must be so relieved. I would like to see more pics in a few months to see how the little fella is progressing.

Congrats on your new hatchling. nice snake

Congrats Buck, there is never any garuntee that any snake will always feed without a hassle, in fact ive had good feeders suddenly not want to eat and vice versa, but its a pretty good sign that he liked the blood, so he should be fine now.
