We have had some u beaut nipple waterers for our breeding rodents, on order through a mob in Adelaide for about 5 months. Grrrr!!! Just found the right website for the manufacturers late last week. Have ordered 200 of the suckers, for the same price as we could have got 100 from the Adelaide guy. Grrrr!! Go to the top is my motto. Stuff the local SA guy. We are so peeed off now. Our waterers were sent yesterday, and we should get them in about 7 days. As soon as we get em we are going to tell the Adelaide importer to stick our order where the sun don't shine!! These waterers are guaranteed not to leak. Only the occasional drip. We are going to change our watering system completely now. Filtered etc etc. Now we might be able to get away for at least a weekend "together", instead of one of us having to stay home and check for leaking waterers, changing wet boxes etc. Yeehaa!! Looking forward to a weekend of Crabbing over at the Penninsula. Can't wait. Cheers Cheryl

That's quite interesting rr,i used to bred my own rodents and used nipple waterers straight from the pet shop attached o 2 ltre coke bottles or similar and they never leaked, plus you could take off for a week easy and there was stiil water in the bottles, and that's in Nth Qld..

I just won't breed em anymore as they are more work than the animals you feed em to,plus they stink and some are nasty little mothers lol

Here 'tis folks. I've given you the link to the actual page with the nipple waterer on it. Its called SuperFlow Automatic Nipple Waterer. We've ordered them without the black gasket/grommet, as we don't need them as we just push the waterers into t- pieces. Dave is going to change our watering system a bit now and put a header tank on top of the rat house. He's also going to put a filter and pressure regulator. And with these new waterers there should be no more probs.

No Greg, we are using some yellow plastic ones, 360 degrees, and you cannot pull the two stainless steel in side bits apart for cleaning. Grrr!! Pain in the A$$!

Ah, ok. I know the ones. I'm really interested to know how the new ones go. I'm using the ones I mentioned. All stainless steel with 2 valves that come apart. I have had some flooding problems which I think is because I don't have them clipped securely to the wire of the rat tub and they're pushed out leading to the valve being left open. I got mine from Multiquip here in Sydney but their supplier is in SA so it may be the same mob you deal with.

I find the drippers the Herp Shop (and others) sell very reliable.

They do not have a ball but just a narrow hole and rely on the capiliary action and surface tension to stop drips. They are stainless steel and easily come apart for cleaning.

I find the size of the bottles is a tad small but the bung and nipple fit pretty neatly into some juice bottles. You need a stiff bottle and I have found that the ones that some cranberry juice comes in to be ideal and they hold about 1.5 litres.

Herptrader, we don't use bottles, our system is gravity fed with plastic tubing running along the top of all the cages. Waterers are pushed into t pieces. Cheers.

This is what I'm using at present.

Yeah Greg, the innards look similar to what ours do, except the outer is yellow plastic. We got Multiquip to send us a sample, but that was not what we were looking for. We don't have our order with them. Its some Agfarm suppliers. But they can get nicked as soon as ours turn up from the States. Like I said, we can get double the number for the same price this guy in Adelaide was charging. $3.50each. The ones we are getting cost $1.05 usd. Don't know the conversion rates to aud. Cheers
