This weekend Hubby, me and some of our friends went for a "real" ride (it took longer than an hour and we actually left sydney!) and headed up to Dungog, were the Central Coast American Motorcycle Club were holding the Thunderbolt Rally.

What an awesome day! There was bike shows, demolition derby, motocross, hot rods, a tattoo show- which I decided to enter in- and heaps more stuff.

I entered in the Ladies big colour tattoo and the ladies arm category and was amazed when i got called back up as one of the People's Choice favourites, even more amazed when my number was called out and I got a massive cheer (to be honest mostly hubby's mates! thank god there a loud bunch.) I was amazed when the judges asked everyone else to leave except myself and another lady who had an awesome back job. unfortunately just as everyone was asked to cheer for their favourite, another friend of ours was competing in the demo derby and most of our boys walked out to watch him, cept hubby, his best mate and a few who cheered me on really loudly but unfortunately just not loud enough. Anyway I walked off stoked to have come second out of 10 or so women (some with amazing artwork imo) and was proud of myself for even getting up there! Just as i was about to walk out of the tent and drown my sorrows with another bundy, the most surprising thing happened, I heard the words "Judges choice for Best Ladies Arm: number 62, Sarah." I nearly fell over! I have NEVER EVER won so much as a stuffed toy at the easter show, and now My tattoo had been chosen as the BEST!!! And i have a plaque that reads "BEST LADIES ARM 2011"!

I walked around with the biggest smile all last night and still cant wipe it of my face! Id rather have my little red plaque than any stuffed toy!lol.

If anyone gets the chance next year, The Thunderbolt Rally is a great day out for all ages. There was camping available on site, plenty to look at, great live bands, fireworks and well worth the weekend away for $25pp!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

omg- feeling it big time time today! longest trip up the freeway with a mad hangover just after lunch. was a mad day- next year we will camp there and spend the whole weekend there. one of the most well put together and thought out bike shows i have been too. even an onsite tattoo parlour..

That's so awesome :D I've never been to a bike show, but I'll be going for sure when one comes my way! Have you ever video taped your rides? I love watching those on youtube :)

The last poker run I went on i did, but because it was around that time that the police decided they'd ruin any fun we could possibly have riding around the pack was full of cops and they were darting in and out and i was told that I was allowed to video while on the back of the bike, all the while the copper was videoing me with only one hand on the handlebars! This weekend is the first run i have been on for ages.

Well done, I was born In the DOG, and was going to head up as its only 20 minutes drive but Saturdays being sports day for the kids pretty much ate up the whole day. Plus I had to fortify the house for the appocalypse.
Will have to make it next year and catch up with my two headed friends from Dungog.

Definitely was well worth taking the kids to! There was so many different things going on. We couldnt fit Matilda in the saddlebags so she stayed with Grandma instead, giving mummy a day of freedom!!

You may have wasted your time with your fortifying, everything still seems to be where it should be :)

Mad, Congrats...Good onya for entering Sarah ;)

Thanks Smithers! You gotta be in it to win it!

That would be right, and they can get away with it but nobody else can :x if you put the video on youtube let me know :D

Tahlia, I have no idea where that would be anymore, I know the boys made up a disc from the run, If i can find it i'll send you a link to my fb...
