I just finished whatching a documentary about the decw or whatever its called and the illegal trade of reptiles in melbourne and it reminded me of recording the reptiles i obtain and lose. Ive been recording everything in my booklet but i havnt told them about any updates for almost a year now, and since then i have bought one spotted python and unfourtnently one of my hatchling geckos did for an unknown reason. If there are any more-experienced keepers out there could you give me some advice please :)

What i should do is send my booklet to them right?, but it said something about renewing or updating your booklet during or before april or something. Im very confused as to what i should do so help wiould be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Aaron.P

You don't need to tell DEC, every time you bring in a new reptile, or lose any. You just record it in your book and send the book to them, in April every year. That is when your population records with them, is updated. The spotted python and the gecko, write them in your book. DEC don't need to know until your book goes in next April.

lolz i wached that snake crusader episode to last night butiful boa and corni that had to be destroyed ay

This is all good unless you're buying from interstate, in which case you do need to tell them when you apply for an Import/Export Permit.

You need to tell them what you are importing or exporting, yes. They ask you that on the import permit. And in NSW (not sure about other states) they send you a form with your permit license, you need to fill out to declare that what you received or sent is the same or changed. You still need to write these animals in your log book, but it does not have to be sent in until April, every year.

So yeah you're right. Movement licenses (import/export permits) always ask for the details, and these have to be handed in within 7 days of receiving or sending the animals, but ONLY on the form they give. YOu don't send your books anywhere, until April.
