i remember last year my uncle and his hunting friends were offered $500 to spend 3days at kakadu to capture atleast 200 cane toads

I think what they are after is a set and forget type trap, one that down not require tending, feeding or alcohol.

I can't believe nobody has come up with a good idea for a trap,i reckon i could easily have wasted at least 50 toads within a few minutes last night.They love dog food,maybe some sort of trap like a crab pot with a long lasting scented bait.If i leave my porch light on it obviously attracts heaps of bugs n stuff which in turn attract the toads so maybe a trap with a some sort of light,maybe a glow stick type thing similar to what's used for night diving.When it's dry they swarm to anywhere with water,plenty of ideas and i might just have to put some into practice.

I still reckon something introduced to them in all areas that makes them sterile to halt the breeding process is the answer.I really really hate and despise toads :evil:

With any sort of Automatic destruction device, you run the risk of getting the native toads and frogs so I propose a:

CANE TOAD BLENDING BURNINATOR ROBOT OF MASS DESTRUCTION!!!! You see the robot would be able to tell the difference between cane toads and natives and eliminate them on the spot!

On a serious note, a crab pot type set up would be best as anything caught would be kept alive until sorted and the native animals set free. Anything without any kind of human sorting that would kill all that it trapped would be just as bad as no trap, although you are killing cane toads

i was thinking along the crab pot idea to, just have to think of bait, probably dog food or a light to attract insects, i would build a big one, but has to be under 12kg

probably something along the lines of a modified yabbie pot, the mesh would be the right size
