Ocean Water stinks

Can any one help with the ocean water I collect. After 2 days it stinks...ehlp

i would go purchase your nsw water. its been filtered for days. probably a better option.

I live in Sunshine Beach Queensland and walk to ocean to collect

NSW shouldn't stink. I've got some here that's over 6 months old and is fine. Yours must be contaminated some how.

I have been storing in a tupperware conatiner, completley sealed in a dark cool place. I think it may be the container?

No Im not near contaiminated areas.... but after thinking....our beaches are covered in millions of bluebottles....i get the lifesavers to collect for me.... maybe?

After research this is whats happens to the water.
There is lots of life in ocean water (plankton) that dies if the water is not oxygenated. So after 2 days you have lots and lots of dead items rotten in the water. You need to either let it set for a few weeks, then only use the clear water on top, or filter it, very very well, or kill it with chlorine, filter and dechlorinate.
Problem solved but seams like alot of work to me.

Or just run it through a diatom filter as soon as you collect it?

Its probably going to work out cheaper, easier and safer to pay the couple of dollars and buy it already filtered.

We don't have any filtered water suppliers close by, thanks.
Anyone know where on-line I can by aquarium salt at a good price?
