Thanks ashley,

Just rang Foxtel and it is Australia wide, there is a OTC of $10 (installation) and for me (on the basic pack $67.95) there is a $15.95 ongoing monthly charge.

(guess you must be on the $97.00 plan - lucky bugger )

I went to the launch and it looked pretty cool! - my only gripe was that 7 and 10 were not being re-broadcasted - so I wasn't keen on forking out the extra money when alot of the crap I watch was on those channels - but thats not entirly IQs fault though.

7 and 10 are re-broadcasted analogue signals (not digital) over cable only and not over satalite.

From what I can gather from the IQ the launch - IQ will not record 7 and 10 - as they are not digital.

This was the main reason that I do not have IQ. Either way as a satalite subscriber I miss out on these channels anyway (at least for moment anyway)

yeah i havent got 7 and 10 either and its a right pain in the butt..

IQ is very good, you can set the serious link facility and record every serious of say 'Snakebuster' and never miss one as long as your box is left on.
It is also so easy to record stuff, you can watch recorded stuff whilst recording something else.
Very impressed, but as Alex stated you can't get 7 and 10, but hopefully that will change in the future, I have a digital tv decoder for those channels, so no great worry.

yeah me too - but how hard to explain to the babysitters you need this remote for 7 and 10, this remote for all other free-to-air channels, but you need to set the amps source to TV for FTA and if you want to watch foxtel then set the amps source to... blah blah blah.

Oh yeah and you can't record 7 and 10 unless you either have a HDD recorder with inbuilt tuner or still living in the past and have a VHS Recorder. Im holding off until the foxtel and 9 and 10 pull there finger out and work out a deal.

What is Foxtel IQ????????

Its a dual tuner PVR (harddisk recorder) that lets you record two channels at the same time, watch one channel while recording the other. As Neil mentioned it has some really cool features such as enabling it to record all instances of a series (and automatically ignores series repeats, etc)

check out http://www.foxteliq.tv/what/ for more info.

LOL Alex !

I know exactly what you mean, I had to explain this to a babysitter the other night.
However, I don't usually record programs on the Terrestrial channels, I hadn't recorded anything for years until I got the IQ, and that records most stuff for me with the 'Series Link' facility, so I am more than happy, and just hope that channel's 7 and 10 get there act together and get onboard in the near future.

I have it and must say that I enjoy it a lot. Great for people who like to watch programs when it suit them with out ads.
