I've ran out of crix for my beardie! I orderd some from frogs.org.au but they won't be here till next thursday. I have juvi pellets that he is learning to eat and I bought some chicken baby food. Is that ok? Fatso eats some veggies so I might mix it all together.
I have learned from my mistake:oops:

i was in the same suituation the other night with my GTF'S ended up running out side like a mad nutter trying to net baby moths.... didnt go to well lol

lol im lucky that my GTF`s will eat adult woodies .

Hi - most of the pet stores here get their supplies on a Tues, u could just buy some.
Try keeping baby food as a last resort - great for problem eaters or really sick beardies that need force feeding. Beardies are pretty lazy eaters though, preferring the meal to come to them, so if u spoil a bub, you're making pretty hard work for yourself in the longterm imo:)

I dont know of many petshops these days that DONT stock crickets, mealworms and woodies. They're everywhere :D

He finally ate some pellets mixed with vegies when I held it out to him. Talk about lazy!lol
Will get crix as soon as i can. Don' t wanna get roaches although I know they are easier to keep and breed. When you've had a major infestation in your house, it kinda puts you off.

I thought about catching moths. I might try tonight. Fatso was trying to catch one but sadly it was on the wrong side of the glass.LOL

You had a major infestation with wood roaches??

No, they were the pest kind that were the infestation. I did see a few baby woodies about though. They look different even as babies if I remember.

Fatso ate all his vegies today! didn't eat all the mixed pellets though. I bought some crickets from our only pet shop and boy was he grateful!! I might try to breed these things so I don't run out. I ordered 200 1/3 sized crix from frogs.org.au, so that should give me enough for a little while. These guys are pigs.lol

Btw I'm glad I can order crix online because I was going to the shop every few days! Any other tips on how to keep live food costs down? I only have the one bd and don't want to order too many crix in case they die or get too big.

Thanks for the help :D

Keep a woodie colony. I bought one not long ago and it's fantastic. I have all sized woodies for all my different critters, they're easy to look after. Don't require much, carrot for moisture, rats pallets for food and kept warm. I do a clean out once a week and ta da! No noise, no escapees (using fluon) and better food source I think. I don't have to feed as many woodies to match was I was feeding in crickets!

I live rural so I know your pain of running out I've learnt to keep a box of Wombaroo and some beefheart in the freezer as a just incase - and my Beardy loves it - I coat the meat in the wombaroo and add some veggies and he doesn't leave it very long : p

My order came in yesterday and today I opend up the cricket container to find ANTS!!!!!! They killed most of my crickets!! :( What can I do to stop this from happening again?
I bought some mealworms from the pet shop. If I wait untill the worms shed will it be safer to feed my beardie? What about feeding mealie pupae?

You could try keeping your cricket tubs in a larger tub with some water in the bottom - the ants wont swim.
