just the other day a bloke was telling me that old breeder rats can be harmful to your snakes if fed as a constant diet.. can anyone tell me if this is true or not? and the reasons why? cheers tim
Im not an exbert but id reckon it would have something to do with the lack calcium in the rat from having heaps of litters and having to give the pups so much calcium for them to grow. But i dont think it would hurt the animal as long as it was given juvenile rats or mice when it was small as they would of had calcium in them. Same as humans need calcuim when bubs but dont need it much when full grown. As i said im not an exbert
the reason jumbo rats or old breeders are not encouraged by some to be used as feeders is they are fatty
two younger or medium rats would be better for a mean depending on the size of the snake
or even a young rabbit as they are leaner
