Hey guys,

I am proud to announce that I have my first ever gravid python.
Her name is Medusa and she is an 8ft Bredli python. Female of course haha.
After turning off her food and developing quite a bulge in her tummy, I decided to have her ultrasounded by my local rep vet.
To my surprise we have definite gravidness!!
She spent some time with a gorgeous classic Bredli boy and we did not notice them even take interest in each other at all. But obviously a quiet sexual moment rose between them and now we are expecting.

I am so excited but at the same time I am so nervous as this will be my first ever clutch to incubate. If anyone has any tips that may help me out with the whole process of taking the eggs and incubating, please do not hesitate to share.
I have the whole Centralian section from the Mike Swan book Keeping and Breeding Aust. Pythons, so I am hoping that the guidelines will be very helpful.
I also have my incubator set up and ready to go.
So now I am just playing the waiting game.

I am wondering, is there any definite way to tell which day she will lay? Like is there a dead giveaway hint that she has gone into "labor" as such?

Thankyou all for reading and happy herping. :D
Cheers, Bec- Snake Gal

Gotta love the Bredli. Obviously the male did:D
No advice as haven't had any myself but I'll gladly cheer you on from the side lines with the rest of them. There was a good post recently about a bredli in labour. I'll see if I can find it and if I do it on time I'll edit it in here:

If not, I'll just do another post:D

Sorry I got distracted but your off line anyway:)
The thread was veiwed by me recently but posted last February:shock::)
Heres the link, its a bit like "days of our lives" but some interesting stuff on there. Some other threads under "gravid bredli" but I really gotta go to bed:?

Hi Snake Gal...according to Mike Swan the pre laying slough is a fairly good indicator of time to lay...in his book he gives the average number of days slough to lay for centralians as 28 days

Congrats!
Hope everything goes well!
:)
Im getting a snake and I might get another and when they grow up, start breeding.
But first, i'll need to see if I need to get me a breeders license., anways, this isnt about me,
BEST OF LUCK!!!!! HOPE ALL THE HATCHIES GO TO GOOD HOMES!:)

lt seems to take so long that they lay just after you have convinced yourself that it isnt really happening . Then the excitment is full on , enjoy it , the wait for hatching is even longer . lt is frustrating but when you have that box full of live , colourful spagetti it is very rewarding .

Good News Snake Gal..... Hope you have plenty of healthy babies hatch...

I have a female Coastal I think is preggers..But not sure

How much did it cost for the ultrasound???

What do u need a breeders licence to breed i thought that was only for pet shops or something and if so how much is it??

Heya shags,
Yeh the guidelines in the book so far have been amazing.
Hence preggers female. I'm hoping the 28 days is pretty precise.
I'm so gunna be taking a few days off work before and after that date, I will be devastated if I miss the lay.
But I'll be monitoring her every move very closely.

Cheers, Snake Gal

Hey Surfcop24,

It only cost me the amount for the consult, $75.
But I think Medusa has won my vet's heart. He adores her and looks after me well if I ever have any snakes that need vet attention.

The ultrasound was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.
She is developing sooooo many eggs. We know they are fertile as we could even see the embryos forming. OMG!! it was just unreal to see what was happening in her belly,

I am so waiting to have a tub of my very own coloured spagetti haha.
It is going to be an experience of a lifetime.
I dont even care about selling them, haha, if I had the space I reckon I would keep each and every one of the babies.
I'm gunna be so sad when I have to part with them though.

I am hoping not.
I was told that I just have to mark everything into my rep book.
Like the date the eggs are laid and weather put into incubator, and then the hatch dates, no. of successful hatchies etc
My book shows me examples of how to write it and all. It doesn't say anything bout needing a breeders license
