Any of the more experienced breeders have the situation when woma laid only half of the clutch? There was also some blood deposit on first 5 eggs laid.
It is now 27 hours after she laid the first 5. Rest of the eggs is right up to cloaca.
This newer happen to me before.
First 5 eggs looks fine and healthy. I was surprised that she laid them so early, only 25 days after prelay shed.

If the first lot were slugs Id say just wait another day but since they are healthy Id say she's stuck. So a trip to the vet is the safest option.

You can massage the eggs out but its not always that successful and can be incredibly stressful to the snake. Alternatively Ive had the stuck eggs peirced then removed through the cloaca. That may help if only one or two eggs are causing the problem. If you're lucky the rest will follow naturally. Worst case she'll have to go under the knife to have the eggs removed.

BTW some vets will swear by oxytocin others say it doesnt work on snakes. In my experience it doesnt work on snakes.

Is it her first clutch?

27 hours is a while, so it's a bit of a concern.

Aspirating the egg that's caused the blockage can help, but I have never done this myself before.

I'd head to the vet - can be a real issue if not dealt with soon.

i cant really help you slateman except to say i saw a pic on a thread on APS yesterday where a woma was laying and had blood deposits on the eggs. mmmmmm i better check that it could have been a thread by you.

Just relax, they can lay them over a few days. We have had pythons start and have intervals of laying. If they are not out by the weekend; start considering a visit to the vet.

Ive waited before and lost females that way. See a vet and let them decide what is the best course of action.

I had a woma do this with some very large eggs this season, there was visibly only two eggs left in her she was trying extremly hard to push out, it's the bigest woma egg I've ever had (98grams) and the skin around her cloaca was riped, torn and bleeding. A friend and I helped the last two out, took all of a few minutes.

In saying that I also had a carpet start laying this season and stop after only one egg, I tried oxytocin and calcicum shots to no avail. She died a few days ago, I allowed time with her to see how everything panned out, it's part of the reason I decided to get the woma eggs out straight away.

How long did you wait Codered?

Called the vet after 48hrs. They aspirated and massaged two eggs out. Then gave oxytoxin and calcium on the 3rd and 4th days which didnt help. After the 10th day they operated, but by this stage an egg had caused septicimia and she died another 3 days later whilst still at the vets surgery. In hindsight they shouldve operated sooner. Live and learn eh. She was a beautiful hypo bredli from SXR.

We must have just been lucky, I guess. To be honest, we have never had much luck with any vets either. In the cases we have taken animals to so called specialist vets; we ended up losing the animals.

I generally talk to friends and friends of friends who've had similar problems, gather some info on the situation and try to source the best course of action due to this reason aswell.

Yeah thats normally the case with me too. I think its because by the time we recognise our snakes have a problem its already too late. Also too little research is done on reptile medicine and treatments

72hrs is the max i would wait. as this is the usual time period when the eggs start to fuse with the oviduct wall. i'd get her xrayed and see if there is a specific egg causing the problem and then go from there, you may be lucky and massageing the eggs may work fine with some lubrication. or even aspirate and remove the first and see how she goes. a good vet would be the way to go

last year a friend rang me with the same problem with a coastal, got there & the female was exauted from laying 24 eggs, she just couldnt get the last egg out, we put her in a warm bath & massaged the egg out. it worked great & the last egg just popped out... very lucky... good luck

Thank you all for sharing information. That is what herp help is all about.
My woma laid another egg and one small slag just now. Her end part is empty, but looks like she still have some eggs about 3 inches back from cloaca. My opinion is that all this was just to much to laid it all in once. We see what will happen over night. I will let you know.
