I was wondering if any windows 98 users out there have had this problem where some web pages just don't load properly and you have a scrollbar at the bottom and you have to scroll for ever to the right to get text and then forever and some more to see a a picture which is half the size it should be.

I have this problem when viewing forums from this page at home but not when I'm at work (shhhh). I have change all internet settings a billon times, desktop size aslo ( am at 1024x728), installed all updates etc etc etc etc.

I have this problem on a few other sites as well but majority of sites and graphics load fine.

I know its gonna be a simple fix, but somebodies just gottas tell me pleeeze.

I was wondering if any windows 98 users have had problems with page displays where you have to sroll forever to the right to view any text and forever and a bit more to see a picture half the size it should be. Despite haveing changed all internet settings a billion times, changinging desktop (Im at 1024x728) and intalling the most up to date versions I still have this prob on this site as well as some others although most are fine.

I know its gotta be a simple fix.

Is there an ech in this room  Sorry. I couldn't see my text cause It wasn't on the screen so I retyped. C my dilema

Have you tried shutting down your computer then rebooting?

Several days ago, all my text was in a huge size font. So I called it quits for the night. It worked OK the following day. This was with Linux not Windoze 98.

Haven't accessed the internet with Windoze 98 for a long time, but I used it last night to write my permit application.

Sorry I can't help you any further than that.

Cheers,
Wombat.

Thanks wombat for the reply, but alas this has been an ongoing problem since I think when I updated to IE version 6 sp1 for win 98. The bad news with IE is once you install the later version you can't uninstall and go back. The frustarting thing is I know you can read this OK but for me to read your reply I had to scroll forever like I said.

Thanks again

I know the feeling. :( The time I was talking about, all the text looked like this. Sorry for making it harder for you.

If you have your original CD you maybe able to do a complete reinstall.

Or if you want to upgrade to a superier system for free, I can give you the link to the Mandrake Linux site.

Cheers,
Wombat.

Thanx again wombat but I have tried reinstall but it look like there is something in particular with win 98 IE 6 sp1. I have even reinstalled windows. I can't seem to find any repair or patch and I can't afford to upgrade my system.

I'm glad yours is workinf OK now

If you are like me, on dial-up, Linux will cost you. But if your on broadband, you can download it for nix. Or if you can scrape up $19.95 plus P&H, you can have a later version than I have.

Cheers,
Wombat.

must admit I don't know much about Linux, or how compatible it is with what I have. Thanks for the input wombat

Shax if you could find a page with the problem and copy it with the "print screen" key and post the image it might help. I sometimes get a similar problem running win2k but there's usually an oversized pic somewhere in the post.

Windows 98 and service pack 1......theres your problem!

Why dont you upgrade to 2000 or even xp proffesional? Both user friendly and should get rid of your dillemas.
