I've only recently started breeding parrots and wish the pricelist u sent out was from sumwhere in oz so I can buy them! All the parrots mentioned are alot dearer here than that. Alot!

By the way I'm only sml scale breeder currently. I only own 2 pairs ringnecks, 1 pair red rumps, cockatiels and quails. I've spent around $600 dollars on those and the cockatiels were given 2 me so not included in that price.

And yes, THE BIRDS ARE WELL & TRULY AWAY FROM THE SNAKES!!!! :D

i would kill for an african grey or macaw they are such elligent and very pretty birds, and smart.

Likewise I'm going to eventuallly get a hyacinth which is mostly bright blue. And as for the african greys, I know a few of people who own them and I'm sooooo jealous! I also love the idea that these birds were the original pirate birds!!

By the way if any1 is interested in purchasing either blue, yellow, green or albino ringnecks in about 2 mths, or sum awesome split-coloured red rumps or cockatiels, give me a yell!

Hi Hix
I currently keep about 50 parrots and about same in budgies.Out of all my parrots only 2 pairs of exotics the rest are native and protected species.
It is and was a hobby of mine for the last 20 years.
Some prices of birds here that are on your list are unbelivable.Don't hold me to it,I'll try to give you an idea of some.
Patagonian young $300
As far as I know there was only 3 of them here 7 years ago and i was lucky enough to see a pair of them in someones collection. Price at that time sky is the limit.
Umbrella $270 young $1300
I believe they are going for $20000 each here.
Golden/Queen of Bavaria young $3000
price here from $9000 each
Pechfaces, cockatiels and some finches are very similar priced here
As for Amazons from $4000 each and up.
I hope that will give you an idea of some prices

In your line of exotics do you happen to have any blue quakers or green split to blue? Would looove to buy a pair!!

i breed eclectus parrots and the price of them have come down so much in the last couple of years,a long with them i have had over 70 other birds over the years ,from buggies ,cockatiels, king parrots ,a wide range of lories, princess parots,conure's,ringnecks,golden-shouldered parrots and more

How much do you sell your ecleltus for? And where are u? My boyfriend loves them and wants a female (tame-ish!).

depends on if i hand rear them or just leave the to the parants to rear ,prices start at $700-$1200 and im in Qld ,but as with snakes you need to do a lot of reseach on them as they are not the easies bird to keep , just carnt put them in a cage and feed seed they take a lot of looking after and they eat mainly fruit and veg,its very easy to lose them as they stress out very easy,so with that said im very carfull to whom i sell my birds.

I do have experience with birds, and I had an eclectus, albino female ringneck and an alexandrine as pets inside my house. I sold these to help get my current breeders. But I see where u r coming from, I hope all my babies go to good homes too

What are ringnecks like as a pet, how easily tamed are they? How smart/friendly?

Seen them in a shop up here, looks nice.

Ringnecks are great pets, mine was female and took a fair while to talk and whistle - bout 8 or so months. She was quite a character - hated my b'friend and loved me, and put with my 2 kids -aged 3 &4. Buying a handraised 1 usually gets u a tame 1, after they've worked out who their prime carer is they'l totally devote themselves to u!

Very smart, I've seen them taught to do all kind of tricks, words/sentences/whistles.

Can be unfriendly, u have to set then behavioural rules so to speak. My girl could be a bit b***hy, but soon learnt never to bite me with a firm no and light tap on the beak. When I sold her to a petshop they were amazed at how friendly she was with every1, and quite a few people commented to me they could get their bird to speak etc. but they were a horror to pick up n pat. But I didn't have that problem, I wish now I hadn't sold her; but I did so I can breed them, tame them and make purchasers as happy as I was with a tame ringneck. :D

Could you suggest somewhere i can lok at pics and info on them, for some strange reason i'm thinking of getting a bird. And this thread just pricked my interest, particulalry in ringnecks.

What sort of price are they?
