Pet shops in Adelaide

Can Adelaide pet shops sell reptiles?

I am going to Adelaide for work next week and if the answer is yes, I'd like to check out a few pet shops because we have nothing like that in NSW. Again, if the answer is yes, can some of the SA members suggest any pet shops worth seeing?

Northside Pets on Kilburn Rd, Prospect have quite a lot of reptiles. Also on Prospect Rd is Scales and Tails(back towards the city). They are solely a rep shop tho. Can't think of any others off hand, sorry. Cheryl

I don't know if they are a shop shop where any tom dick and harry can walk in, you may need to contact them to go meet them, I dont know you can ask them or Ricko

Yes Jenny, they can. The standard of care there seems to generally be much better than you see in the Melbourne shops, although there are only a couple worth visiting. It's a bit of a spin out for us Melbournites as they have things like womas for sale in them. I'm pretty sure I also saw elapids in one shop, as well as a crocodile (down here it's just what you can keep on basic licenses). With my quarantine paranoia, I'd still be extraordinarily reluctant to buy from a shop (I must admit, if I'd had the money I'd have considered some womas I saw in Scales and Tails, they were really lovely, the people who bred them were there for people to talk to, which is important and they were quite reasonably priced), but there are at least two which are definately worth a look.

There is a croc at Scales n Tails, and last time I went to Gully Reptile Centa over in Modbury, they had a croc too. They are solely a rep dealer as well, all very clean etc. Well, sorry but I forgot to mention URS, their new warehouse is great too. Northside pets is the only actual "petshop" that I know of that reptiles for sale. Cheers Cheryl
