Thought i'd share some of the photo's i took while on holidays recently in and around Cairns.
I have a close friend who's a supervisor in the reptile department at the Cairns Tropical Zoo, so i was lucky enough to get a 'behind the scenes' tour.
Me with some exotics (eh, to hell with privacy):
Gummy the Salty:
While my friend was preparing for a croc show with these two, they were happily performing their own 'show'. It quickly ended though when he saw the food bucket!
Wil with Saltan during the show:
More pics from Cairns Tropical Zoo:
Pilbara D.A's:
Spotted Black
Hosmer's Skink:
Corn Snake:
Madagascar Day Gecko- these guys were awesome!
Centralian Earless Dragons:
Fijian Banded Iguanas:
Two Slay-grey Snakes:
Leaf-tailed Gecko:
Giant Cave Gecko:
Some pics of reptiles at Hartley's Croc Farm:
This was great. They take you on a boat on their billabong that's home to 12 crocs and feed them:
Their croc show was great! He gets in the water with it and makes it perform the death-roll and the head shake:
Herping pics. Didn't find too much but the Boyd's made up for the things i didn't see! We found one on the first day and another the second at the same place but we were pretty sure it was the same animal:
We found two G.T's:
Saved this guy from being squished on the road:
I found this poor little fella in the water. Not sure what caused his death but he had a few marks on this back. There were cattle in the area that drink from the creek so i thought he
could've been stomped on and we also noticed an oily substance in shallow water which was probably some sort of chemical coming from the cattle (dip or spray).
Can someone please I.D him for me, i don't have a frog field guide yet:
White-lipped Tree Frog:
Wil with a Two-lined Dragon:
Keelback near Mareeba:
Have a few photo's of skinks i saw at numerous places. I haven't looked into I.Ding them yet but know there's a few keen skink specialists on here, so please give me your opinions.
For most i've been thinkin along the lines of Carlia sp.?:
Happy snaps on my last day with Wil. Him with "Kinka" the Spotted Black and me with Collett's:
I have HEAPS more photo's of birds, mammals, fish, insects, scorpions and centipedes, and spiders if anyone's interested. If you are, give me a yell on this thread
and i'll post them in the non-herp section coz if no one's interested im not going to bother! This has taken long enough!
