Pine mulch

I have read Pine much is Toxic to snakes... is it toxic to Monitors as well?( I am guessing so)

Pine trees contain high levels of resin sap. I am not sure if it's toxic but contact with the sap is not recommended.

I kept snakes on pine bark without any problems.

i use critters crumble for my mulch-style substrates. desert style substrates i chuck the ozpet kitty litter in a blender until it turns to dust. not had an issue.
i used to use red clay aqua gravel or whatever it is, but it stained the underbelly of all my animals red when i misted.
