Im making an enclosure 100x45x45 cms and am looking at the types of wood i could and should use. so, which do you prefer? also can you post the reasons? thanks
I currently own one melamime enclosure, one plastic (URS) enclosure, and I am making a pine/american cherry/PNG rosewood enclosure for my Year 10 DTE project.
The melamine enclosure is just so so so practical and cheap also, the plastic one (1/2 the length too) cast 300 dollars more... and, in my opinion, looks worse.
However, for a display enclosure for a living room or somehting, I believe a wooden-combo enclosure looks really nice.
The one I'm making for DTE will be for sale on this site in a month or 2, so keep a look out- with probably the plastic one also.
But at the end of the day it's individual preference- because that's what I like doesn't make it correct
Ben.
For a display tank; stained ply. For a breeder tank; melamine. But I am open to the idea of a melamine base with ply or pine sides. Melamine is preferred for ease to build (No staining, sealing or sanding), and clean........ but I despise the look of it!
