1 down .... just the feline population of Australia to go!

Mind you the pythons of Africa have evolved along side cats and are probably better equiped to deal with them.

Python

Please don't start the "yay down to cats" thing as the mods will take this story off.

We should look at it as a win for the reptiles as instead of killing it which is normally the reaction he called someone to move him! Maybe people are beginning to realise they are doing what comes naturally and are not big nasty's waiting to eat anything that passes  .

Yeah, that is good to hear - for the snake
The threat of jail and the size of the snake could have been factors why the snake wasn't killed :D

That is very good to hear, (I wonder if he was an animal lover or even a herper) people like that are rare. :D One of my friends, who actually likes pythons and is waiting for mine to start breeding so he can get one, told me the other day that he saw a RBB in his back yard and had no problem with his brother trying to kill it with a shovel (fortunately it got away), I told him what I thought of that, don't you worry, and informed him that there are plenty of people he could have called to relocate it. Its hard to believe though, hey, that someone who likes pythons, and wants one, can have an attitude like that to snakes.

I will peter, but first let me find a cat

Exactly my point.

Yes the point is made well. We need ever case like this to be well reported in the press and see less and less of the "only good snake is a dead snake" type attitude in the press.

Alas I think it is a generational thing which means it will be a good 30 years for broard ranging changes in attitude. I smile when I think if the reptile shows in schools. It is our future that is being learned.

Cats still irk me though, possibly because we are having such a bad time with them at the moment. We currently have three we are trying to irradicate from our yard... the trail of bird feathers, missing fish from the ponds and damged lizards is leaving us with a grumpy disposition...... I like the idea of converting the back yard to a lace monitor pit... that should dicourage them... a bit... or fatten the monitors!

Yeah but as long as the fluffy lovers are happy that seems to be all that matters ,dont worry about others who dont want them around thier yards !
I cant believe the amount of the little bastards that were running around our area this morning .
