Well I have a red eyed GTF and he's very small, only about 10cms long I'd say. He spends most of his time stuck to the side of the tank (inside and outside; his tank doesn't have a lid. He never leaves. He'll go to the outside and sometimes crawl around the desk but is always back in the tank ater a few hours) and doesn't really do much. I spray the tank once every two days and when I spray he jumps around a little bit and gets active but then just goes back to the side and sticks there, not moving with his eyes open. He doesn't eat much, only 2-3 crickets a week and very rarely goes into the water.

I guess my questions are; Is this his full size? Is it normal for them to be so unactive, maybe he's starting that hibernation/estivation thing? Is this amount of food alright for him?

He's still a very nice bright green and I've shown photos to a friend and he says he looks very healthy, he's not skinny or anything either. But I worry. Should I perhaps get him a friend?

Well after being such an avid frog owner myself (almost 2 weeks now) I have found the frogs are hugely active overnight (all my wild ones are nocturnal and all my caged ones seem especially so too).

There's two (maybe more) types of GTF in my lot, one about the size of a fist and the others almost half that size.

They feed on me, the tweezers, themselves and anything smaller than the frog. At the moment I am giving them mealies... They go crazy for them. Jumping on me, jumping on each other, trying to digest the tweezers etc.

The way you write about your froggy sounds like he's manic depressive. Maybe a bi-polar frog?

Get him a tank mate? A larger tank? A range of food? Nice warm humid conditions. A pretty tree to hide in. Just lots of things frogs have in the wild :)

I really can't offer more suggestions or even how large your fella will grow.

But good luck :)

He hasn't grown at all since I've had him and that's about..gosh maybe 4 months? I just think that might be as big as he will get. Oh and I just measured his sleepingbody. He's only 6 cms.

I might just get him a friend. His tank is very big for his size and he's got lots of brances and leaves to play and hide in. He just doesn't do much.

He's definately not like yours at all. When I pick him up and bring him out, he's very active and jumps all over me but once I put him back in his tank he just sits there. Maybe he doesn't like it in there but there's no lid and he has the option to jump out but he chooses not to.

Thanks for your help.

Looks fine to me. Now I know next to nothing about Frogs but his lack of energy may just be his personality??

Yeah I'm hoping so. I don't mind it at all if he chooses to do nothing all night but I was just worried that maybe he was sick or I was doing something wrong.

Thanks.

No his eyes are red. I see this frog everyday. His eyes are red.
